We are collaborating with The Horse Barn in Norridgewock, ME to provide an inclusive equine program! 

Here are the details: 

  • All participants must complete the 3-week 'Intro to Horizons Equine' session prior to signing up for lessons. 'Intro to Horizons Equine' will include horse / barn management, safety, and equine education. 

  • After participants complete the Intro to Horizons Equine session, they will have the option to participate in on-going lessons. Lessons will include grooming, tacking, and riding.

  • Takes place at The Horse Barn: 

    • 205 Ross Hill Road, Norridgewock, ME 04957​

* We are working towards providing a fully accessible facility / program, however, at this time we do not have an accessible restroom or a wheelchair accessible mounting block.

INTRO TO HORIZONS EQUINE
FOR KIDS (8+) AND ADULTS

Kids must be accompanied by a trusted adult

PROGRAM OUTLINE

Week 1: Tour of barn, horse meet and greet, safety, grooming, and horse feeding education 

 

Week 2: Learning to clean a stall, grooming review, and learning to lead a horse 

 

Week 3: Horse first aid care, tack education, and leading through an obstacle course

*After participants complete the Intro to Horizons Equine program they can then sign up riding lessons! Riding lessons are 1 hour in length.

COMING SUMMER 2023!

We will be offering show team lessons during Summer 2023 for Special Olympics as well as local horse shows. Stay tuned for more info!
