SPARKS' ARK

SEPTEMBER 21ST, 2022

Josh, from Sparks' Ark, is a licensed animal damage control agent which allows him to address human wildlife conflicts through education as well as removal/relocation of problem wildlife when necessary. Josh also takes unwanted and abandoned exotics and gives them a home so they are not released or euthanized. In return, he travels the state with some of the rescues education people on their care and sharing his animal encounter stories. This session with Sparks' Ark will be exactly that, Josh bringing his animal rescues to the AOEC Brunswick and sharing his stories.

Open to all ages and abilities. $5 to attend.

Join us for a flight on the wild side and learn about Flying Wild! 

 

Let's talk about birds! Flying Wild is part of the Project WILD award-winning educator book series which are all activity based, experiential learning, curriculum guides. Each provides wildlife-based environmental education activities that are hands-on, easy to use, and fun. The Flying Wild edition focuses on teaching fundamentals of bird ecology and adaptations, conservation, and ecological issues. While also developing natural science knowledge and critical thinking skills across several different discipline areas. The activities complement existing curricula, Maine state standards, and national academic standards.

 

This workshop is great for all classroom teachers, homeschoolers, scout leaders, nature center educators, conservation leaders, and more. Workshop participants will:

  • Be introduced to activities that focus on Maine-specific birds and habitats

  • Try example activities from the Flying Wild Guide. 

  • Receive a free copy of the Flying Wild Guide ​

  • Receive teacher professional development credit hours!

This opportunity event is co-hosted by the Adaptive Outdoor Education Center and the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
