We cannot operate without the help of our wonderful and dedicated volunteers!
We are always looking for passionate volunteers to join our AOEC family! Please complete the Volunteer Application and AOEC Waiver below. Once completed, we will be in touch to schedule a time for a call!
HORIZONS SKI PROGRAM
Our Horizons Ski Program at Sugarloaf is an inclusive ski program for people with autism and varying developmental abilities. We collaborate with Sugarloaf Ski School so our skiers are enrolled in a lesson with their peers! Our volunteers provide 1:1 support throughout the lesson and are there to help as need be! This program takes place Saturdays and Sundays, January - March.
Our Horizons Ski Program at New Hermon is for all abilities and ages, using various adaptive equipment to meet skiers needs. Our volunteers work with skiers to provide a safe, fun, and educational lesson! This program takes place Tuesdays from 3-7pm, January - March.
HORIZONS ARTS PROGRAMS
Volunteers who are interested in helping people of all abilities explore their artistic side, whether that be through cooking, crafts, music or even theater programs!
Horizons Arts programs take place at the AOEC in Carrabassett Valley and will also be offered at our Brunswick location starting December 2020.
This program takes place at Sail Maine in Portland and Camp CaPella in Dedham. Volunteer positions range from Skippers to First Mates.
HORIZONS CLIMBING PROGRAMS
This program takes place at EVO Rock + Fitness in Portland, Maine Bound Adventure Center in Orono, and the Anti-Gravity Complex in Carrabassett Valley. We also host outdoor climbing sessions throughout the summer season.
Volunteers do not need to have climbing experience. AOEC will provide Intro to Climbing courses through our gym partners. Volunteers will be asked to pass a belay test once they have completed necessary trainings.
