UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES
HORIZONS SKIING
We are excited to offer two different ski programs this year!
HORIZONS AT SUGARLOAF
Hit the slopes with our ski program for individuals with autism! The program takes place at Sugarloaf Mountain, inclusive with the ski school. We provide free lift tickets and lodging for volunteers!
*Volunteers should be confident skiers and have experience working with this population.
HORIZONS AT NEW HERMON MOUNTAIN
This ski program is for individuals of ALL abilities, levels, and ages. The program takes place at New Hermon Mountain in Hermon, ME. (close to Bangor) on Tuesday evenings.
HERMON MT. SKIING SCHEDULE:
Tuesdays from 3-5pm, 4-6pm, 5-7pm (volunteers can do one or multiple sessions)
*Please note! There will be a mandatory training for all volunteers interested in participating with our ski programs. Training will be held on the weekend of Dec. 7/8 at Sugarloaf. Lodging and pasta dinner provided!
HORIZONS NORDIC
The Horizons Nordic Ski Program is NEW this year!
Group instruction will take place once a month in Carrabassett Valley. Each lesson will last 2 hours.
FIRST SESSION: SUNDAY, JANUARY 19TH
As a volunteer you will get to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and trail systems on the Narrow Gauge Railroad. We ask that you please have experience with Nordic skiing prior to participating. Lodging is provided for our volunteers!
HORIZONS CLIMBING
We are excited to be teaming up with three gyms across the state to offer adaptive rock climbing for people of all abilities!
Interested volunteers should be positive, encouraging, and passionate about climbing! We will be looking for volunteers at all three locations, so please specify which location you're interested in.
Climbing Locations:
-EVO Rock + Fitness, Portland
-MaineBound, Orono
-Anti-Gravity Complex, Carrabassett Valley
WORKFIRST
PROGRAM WILL RUN FROM 10AM - NOON
Volunteers will enjoy a morning getting out and enjoying the great outdoors with our WorkFirst group! Activities include adaptive biking, nature walks, scavenger hunts, challenge playground, gardening and more!
This is a fun opportunity to share your love and knowledge of the outdoors!
